Common side effect: Gastrointestinal issues like diarrhea are common when starting Metformin. Most gradually adjust to it but some do not and eventually have to be changed to another option. Check your weight on a scale and see if it is less than before to determine if weight loss occurred. Metformin can be useful for patients with PCOS when trying to get pregnant but is not for everyone. Discuss with Obgyn.
