Yes: Unfortunately carpal tunnel syndrome (cts) may recur in a small population of patients. This is best assessed by your md using a physical exam and a emg/ncv (needle study of your nerve/muscles) exam.  The good news is that most patients do well with open carpal tunnel release surgery in the case of recurrence.

Not normal: It is not normal to have these symptoms 10 weeks after surgery.  Please make an appointment and see your Doctor for re-evaluation.   If you really wish to treat these symptoms by yourself, get rid of the compressive glove, try some warms soaks daily and keep hand and wrist warm. A brace may be helpful when you are using the wrist, but do not use otherwise.

Varies: If your carpal tunnel is severe I would bet you cannot use your hands now......

Recovery varies, but fine motor is pretty good right away progressing to full strength after a few weeks.

Carpal tunnel: See your surgeon to evaluate the hives to be sure that they are not related to the surgery. Infection or shingles can mimic hives so it is important to be evaluated.

Recurrent carpal tun: All problems can recur if one resumes the activity which created the problem in the first place. You should be seen by an upper extremity specialist. Many times the diagnosis needs to be accurate. I.e. One may have compression of the nerves from the neck and or brachial plexus , which may also need to be treated. Be sure that conservative treatment is initiated first . Perhaps a second opinion .

Carpal tunnel issues: Since not everything that looks like carpal tunnel is that, there may be something else that was the original problem or ....Many possible other explanations.  I suggest you see a neurologist and if he/she thinks it would be helpful, get a qualified neurologist to do an electrodiagnostic study to determine where, exactly, the problem is.

Postop Carpal tun: Sounds like a possible neuropraxia of the median nerve or the recurrent branch to the thumb. Ask to see a hand surgeon to examine you as a second opinion.
