my body temp was 101.5 and i had sweating and heart palpitations 1.5 months after epidural steroid injection with 8 year history of zoloft (sertraline) use. is this serotonin syndrome?

No.: We doctors have a saying: "when you hear hoofbeats, don't think of zebras." in other words, common things occur much more commonly than rare things. Serotonin syndrome is rare, and typically occurs immediately after taking a drug, not 1.5 months later. The most likely cause of a fever and palpitations is a viral illness. Let your doctor examine you, to put your mind at ease.

had an esi lumbar steroid injection...over a week later and still getting severe nights sweats...is this common, how long will it last?

Not common: I have had occasional patients report some flushing and night sweats after epidural injection. If they continue or become assiciated with fevers, chills, weakness, or headaches, please contact your doctor immediately to make sure you are fine.

It could: Possible, the needle itself might have irritated the nerve. Do me a favor and stay away from those injections, there are other ways, nowadays you cd even google them. Steroids can destroy tendons and tissues if repeated.

: Localized steroid injections into joint spaces rarely contain enough steroid to disperse later in the circulation and have any systemic effect. The joint space itself is isolated from direct contact with the circulation making such targeted treatments more effective.

how to regulate period that come twice a month caused by steroid injection ?

Birth control pills: BCP's are designed to regulate the hormonal balance of menstruation so that your period comes once a month, by design , but without ovulation in that cycle. I would have a long talk with your OB to find out what is the safest approach with simultaneous steroid therapy, since that could affect the action of birth control in a potentially negative fashion. Talk to your OB for advice !!
