7 days: The steri-strips are usually placed to keep the edges of a wound together so that healing takes place minimizing scar.You should keep the area clean and dry for 3 days covering it with a clean gauze. After three days you can take the bandage off and even wet the wound in the shower avoiding bath, pool or beach. The steri-strips will fall on themselves in approximately 7 days better not to peel

Wound care: Steri strips (AKA butterfly stitches) can be used for small lacerations but may not be a good choice over joints or some curved areas of the body.  They need to be kept dry &amp; affixed to be effective.

It depends: First, you should make your surgeon aware of this problem. He or she may suggest nothing at all but could also possibly suggest saline wound wash, cetaphil, or other over-the-counter products to clean the wound.

Sutures OK: Not all suture material is black colored.  In fact, the majority of the suture used at the skin is clear or white.  We often use a clear plastic-like suture for the laparoscopic incisions called monocryl.  It is "dissolvable" and will go away in time.  If it protrudes or bothers you, have your surgeon remove the piece in the office. Good observation!

Finger injury: Keeping the area clean and protected as you are doing is very important. With extensive skin injury I recommend an evaluation by a hand surgeon to validate your status and treatment.

Pain after GB rem: if you are having similar pain, get some blood work looking at your liver function and pancreas function. These are simple blood tests to see if a retained gallstone is stuck in your bile duct. If there is a stone, it can be removed with an endoscope. Your steri strip falling off is not a problem unless there is drainage from the incision. Your surgeon can order the bloodworm and check the incisio

1" long cut on forehead for 3 weeks.  i put steri strips on it, but when they fall off about every 3 days the cut opens up again.  what should i do?

Suture or skin glue: The muscles under the cut are pulling on the wound and Steristrips aren't strong enough. This is a setup for a wider scar if this doesn't heal soon. You should see a physician and get this closed appropriately, either with sutures or skin adhesive. The skin adhesive is easier and less painful but a couple of very fine stitches probably have the best chance of keeping it closed long enough to heal.

how hard is it to open a cut back open on the knee? i had 6 stitches removed 2 days ago after 14 days w stitches. i have steri-strips on it though.

Contact your MD: If you do have a contact allergy to the steri-strip then it has to come off but then the skin at your c-section wound will open increasing the risk of infection and a big scar. Contact your ob-gyn to diagnose the condition and if it is contact allergy versus, for example, an infection, then an alternate method of skin closure can be provided if needed.
