Stroke symptoms: The aha/asa mnemonic is "give me 5 for stroke": walk, talk, reach, see, feel. Be aware of sudden deficits in any of these 5 things. Prevent stroke recurrence by managing risk factors: keep systolic blood pressure below 140, LDL cholesterol below 100, blood sugar below 180. Stop smoking and illicit drugs, limit drinking to 1 a day or less. Exercise 5 days/week. Take prescribed meds as instructed.

Perhaps both: If you need a stent, your cardiologist will advise this.  However, for best results you'll also want to review your diet and make sure it's the healthiest it can be.  Plenty of fruits and vegetables, healthy fats, lean proteins, complex carbs.  Watch the salt and sugar.  Your doctor may also want you on some blood pressure medicine, and will want you to be exercising in whatever way you can.

Suggestions: Would not delay contact with a physician, as your history suggests potential risks which need attention.  With your prior stroke events, I might be concerned of a further stroke in your brainstem, but the effect of your vomiting can increase intracranial pressure transiently, which might worsen all of the above.  Contact your physician ASAP.

does venous sinus stenosis give me an elevated risk of stroke or aneurysm or anything? was told i have this after mri & angiogram secondary to iih, therefore weight loss instead of stenting is advisable.but what are the risks of the stenosis itself?

: Untreated venous sinus thrombosis is indeed a cause of Increased Intracranial Pressure (Pseudotumor Cerebri), and is associated with strokes, but has nothing to do with aneurysms.  Your various treatment options should be thoroughly discussed with an experienced neurologist or neurosurgeon.

do carotid stents cause strokes?

Accepted Answer

It is a risk: Stroke is a known risk of carotid stenting.  It is also a risk of the surgical option: endarterectomy.  Your, or your family member's risk of stroke is best explained by your physician.  But do recognize that carotid stenosis - the need for the stent/surgery - puts one at risk of transient ischemic attack (tia), stroke or even death.

is atherectomy better than stent?

Accepted Answer

Different : Atherectomy is not better than stenting, it usually is reserved for cases when a balloon angioplasty combined with stenting, or direct stenting can not be accomplished due to the plaque burden.  In those cases atherectomy is used to debulk the plaque and the best result would be if this can then be supplemented with a stenting to prevent plaque regrowth or near-term closure of the vessel.

will urethral stent removal be painful?

Very briefly.: An indwelling ureteral stent is removed in one of two ways. A quick pull on a little string to pull it out of the urethra, or by using a flexible scope to enter the bladder and pulling out the stent with forceps. Both can cause bladder discomfort and some flank pain as it is quickly removed. Some residual pain can linger for a day or two. Pain can be variable with many feeling no pain.
