Look for symptoms: If your son has symptoms he should seek medical attention; exposure to fungi/molds can cause infections, asthma, chronic runny nose, pneumonitis, and sinusitis.  If he is symptom free, stay away from or clean up the mold.

Need Treatment: If you have had mold exposure, and feel any symptoms of that it is important to get treatment immediately. Exposure to mold can lead to fungal infections. This requires anti-fungal medication for effective clearance of the fungus. If left untreated there can be serious complications as well as spread of the infection to other areas of the body, depending on the infectious fungus.

Mold in the home: There are many types of mold and many of them are black.. Fixing the problem of indoor mold requires removal of water leakage and/or improving ventilation. High mold counts can cause discomfort as an irritant or allergy/asthma problems if you have an allergy to the mold. First, remove the mold. Second, improve ventilation. Third, seek treatment for allergy ; asthma symptoms.

Mold is ubiquitous: If a person is not allergic to mold or have an immune deficiency, then inhaling mold spores will likely not result in harm.  If a person is having symptoms such as cough, wheeze, shortness of breath, chest tightness, persistent fevers, weight loss, etc, then an evaluation for lung or sinus involvement would be prudent.  A healthy person should not have a problem, but still a good idea to avoid.

YES!!!: Absolutely. Mold is a big problem and source of respiratory symptoms, allergies, and asthma. In many cases, the whole area effected must be removed and replaced. If may cost more now, put is will pay off in prevention of health complications in the future.

Trachea: The chest discomfort may come from chest wall or from irritation/inflammation of the trachea(windpipe). The other symptoms suggest viral upper respiratory tract infection but could also be due to allergies. The more you cough,the more you irritate the trachea and therefore you may want to take a cough suppresant like robitussinDM to quiet a dry hacking cough. See your MD if worsening cough,fever,

Evidence lacking : Unfortunately, there is not a body of scientific evidence to support the concept that exposure to black mold causes specific symptoms or diseases. When I have a patient who believes they have this problem, i check them for mold allergies and encourage them to get their exposure problem resolved. I also check them for chronic infections and if they have those, i check immune function.

It can: Depending on how large the area of the body being treated, it is possible that the immune system could be affected and contribute to a higher susceptibility to viruses, fungus and bacteria. They may also be the case if the radiation treatment causes breakdown or sores of the mouth or GI tract which would break down the body's defenses to these organisms.

my friend ate some berries with mold on it and had a stomach ache the following night, along with headaches, vomiting. what are some treatments?

Bad food: Drink lots of fluids and let the toxins work their way out of his system. If he gets worse take him to a doctor.
