Does radiation therapy make you more susceptible to getting sick from mold and mildew?

It can: Depending on how large the area of the body being treated, it is possible that the immune system could be affected and contribute to a higher susceptibility to viruses, fungus and bacteria. They may also be the case if the radiation treatment causes breakdown or sores of the mouth or GI tract which would break down the body's defenses to these organisms.

Can: Radiation reduces cellular mediated immunity in the area treated and may render it more susceptible to fungal infection.

No: Some may be allergic to molds and mildews, but these are rarely invasive infectious phenomenon. The reports of "radiotheapy lowering your immunity" have some credibility, but factual frequency of events that can be linked to this are few. The most prominentn is reactivating tuberculosis that has been quiet for years. Mildew and mould needs to be cleaned up, but radiotherapy treatment is not a wor.
