Hard to say: If localized only to one area we think of factors that would put it there,like laying down on a wool mat or wearing a shirt with a colored decal in that location. Much of rash assessment is visual, so since I can't see it and we can't view it on the public site I must leave it a puzzle.

Sounds like viral: Although, it does sound like a viral infection, 3 days of fever is the most concerning factor. Vomiting in the 3 year old is not good either as it may cause dehydration along with fever. I'd take him to the nearest er for a check up.

Likely viral: This is a common pattern with many viral illnesses. For some the pattern &amp; rash are so consistent a name can be applied to the cause, like roseola where the rash appears as the fever fades. Without seeing the kid it is difficult to be sure. If the fever persists &amp; the kid acts fine you can monitor it at home as long as the kid takes fluids well.

Recluse or infection: Brown recluse bites can cause: morbiliform rash, fever, chills, nausea, vomiting, joint pain, renal failure, seizures and coma ( the last symptoms mentioned here are rare).  But any infected bite can cause fevers, vomiting and sometimes rashes.  Seek physician care for this if it occurs.
