Ask your doctor: What you described sounds like a benign condition, and as such should not interfere with the exercises you describe, BUT not knowing anything else about your wife, can only recommend that you check with her own doc for safety.

Why?: How was the diagnosis of probable hemangioma made? Appearance of bone hemangioma on bone scanning is variable so you still wouldn't necessarily know for sure. Mri would be more specific. Unless you have any history of of malignancy and resultant concern of bony metastases i wonder why further investigation is being suggested.

Your question is?: You have not asked a question. The hemangioma likely has no clinical significance. However, you do have fairly severe osteoarthritis and stenosis in cluding a new disc herniation. Try conservative therapy first with nsaids, physical therapy and possibly targeted injections. Additional surgery is a last resort.

Lumbago: Disk bulging is very common and back pain may correlate with it. Episodic back pain without leg pain is often back spasm, or muscular cramping of the large muscles around your spine. Physical therapy is a good treatment as are muscle relaxers.

could a hemangioma of the spine be dangerous?

Depends where: If it is in the vertebral bodies, where we commonly find them, avoid becoming osteoporotic and they should cause in trouble at all. If you have a rare hemangioma that has developed somewhere else in the spine, it would depend if it impinges on any nerves or the central canal.  On the skin it does not pose any danger normally.

i have 6 hemangiomas in my spine. the one at t9 is invasive covering over 99% of my disk. should i get anything done to it. i get mixed answers. ?

Not yet: Hemangiomas occur in 20% of the population and very few  require treatment.  Very large hemangiomas have the ability to collapse if they occupy a significant area of the vertebral body and there is associated trauma to that area.  See a spine specialist- orthopedic spine surgery or neurosurgeon for your treatment options and to decide if it's necessary.

Hemangioma: hemangioma refers to a mass of blood vessels that commonly occur on the subcutaneous tissues.Usually hemangiomas are benign and incidental finding on MRI, if the  signal intensity or the color of the hemangioma looks unusual on MRI then it's called Atypical Hemangioma and above scan is usually needed to make sure there is no malignancy, please talk to ur ordering doctor.

how do radiologists tell the difference between hemangioma of the spine and metastasis of the spine? in 2015 i was told hemangioma. in 2020 i was told metastasis. they both look the same. is a biopsy the only way?

: I would ask the radiologist if it is possible to distinguish using an angiogram.  But tricky getting a good angiogram of this maybe.

had mri spine. showed small t 2 hyperintense splenic lesion may represent cyst or hemangioma. is this concerning?

Accepted Answer

Not at all: As long as they are small there is no significant risks. Small splenic cysts are fairly frequent findings.  Hemangioma of the spleen less common than in the liver but as long as they are small cause no significant issues
