A member asked:

How do radiologists tell the difference between hemangioma of the spine and metastasis of the spine? in 2015 i was told hemangioma. in 2020 i was told metastasis. they both look the same. is a biopsy the only way?

I would ask the radiologist if it is possible to distinguish using an angiogram. But tricky getting a good angiogram of this maybe.

CT & MRI will be able to differentiate hemangioma from metastasis. In the rare event when it’s unclear biopsy may be necessary. If the lesion is present for more than two years unchanged it’s unlikely to be metastasis. Talk to radiologist and show scans from 2015& 2020.
