Compare the sides : Symptoms in the opposite leg that are identical in  location to your first presentation suggest there is a new problem involving of the nerves at the level of surgery which can be due to several post op complications. If the symptoms are not quite identical in distribution then sometimes fusion can lead to issues that may cause nerve irritation one level above/ below the fusion. See the Surgeon!

It varies: It varies from person to person, perhaps depending on the severity of the pressure, the time the nerve has been compressed, the amount of inflammation, and other variables. Some are blessed with immediate relief. For others, it take take a month or so for the pain to subside. Sometimes anti-inflammatory medicine may help speed the healing, but ask your doctor before taking or if no relief.

i have nerve pain from spinal cord damage 7 yrs ago. i also had failed dorsal column stimulator operation which has given me even more pain. what hope do i have of getting this pain under control, i'm on the max dose of gabapentin?

: You might do better with twice daily Lyrica as the maximum effective dose of Gabapentin is but 1600-1800 mg total per day.  Meditation and biofeedback techniques may help

: No, this misconstrues different concepts.  Unless the disc compresses the C7 nerve root, there  will be no radiating symptoms in the arm.  If there is radiculopathy, there will be numbness over dorsal hand and extension weakness, but no specific localized sensory radial issue, otherwise.  Straightening at elbow suggests more of a tendinitis, as weakness of extensors do not equal pain per se.

Difficult to repair.: You don't state which drugs in particular caused the damage, or what the nature of the damage is.  So because the question is so general, so must be the answer. In general nerve tissue does not regenerate or repair itself, except for limited nerve plasticity, mostly in children younger patients and there is no known medical intervention. You can't: "repair" it by anything you do.  Some people might advise making sure you have adequate b vitamins, particularly thiamine, which is necessary for good nerve function, so you might take a therapeutic multivit, but I am unaware of any studies that would indicate they work. Nerves may heal over time. If the nerve was actually physically damaged, you could see a neurosurgeon for advice. Stop using.
