It manifests by the GI tract and this inflammation should be in the colon not the small bowel.  Your nutritional status should be ok.  Talk to your doctor for a nutrition consult.

Never: A hernia never goes away until a surgeon repairs it.  Diet modifications may control the symptoms of a hiatal hernia so that you do not need medication to control the symptoms.  But if you want it to go away, you have to talk to a surgeon.

Whole food.: The best diet is a whole food diet. Vegetables, fruits, lean proteins, whole grains, nuts, legumes, and omega 3 fatty acids. Avoid processed foods, food additives, aspartame, and too much caffeine. Some people may have food sensitivities that increase their symptoms. The most common foods are gluten, dairy, eggs, shellfish, and nightshade vegetables (peppers, eggplant, tomatoes, potatoes).

Dairy from grass-fed cows, grass-fed beef (if you eat it), organic eggs, only wild fish low in mercury. Avoid gmo foods, fried foods, trans fats.  While not proven, this can only help improve fertility.
