About a week: Chickenpox tends to emerge in waves of new spots over a period of 2-5 days.The blister grows, pops ; crusts usually within a single day. A person is considered contagious for 1-2 days before to 6 days after the emergence of the rash.

Varies: Generally when all of the lesions or pox are scabbed over and no new ones are appearing.You can be contagious before breaking out however.

Torso usually: Usually they start on the warmer parts of the body-torso, and then spread outward.  Shingles can start on the back and go down one leg

Not sure: Of course can't give you a definitive diagnosis but there is a condition called molluscum contagiosum that is quite common in children in those locations.  I would recommend checking some pics on www.Aad.Org and see if it looks similar.

Yes: Stay in modesty though. I don't believe having chicken pox can cause any adverse reaction with alcohol intake. In any case, the way you describe it, scabs falling off, it seems like the disease is in the recovery mode.

Antibiotics: I agree with Dr. SOGA. Please don't take antibiotics that you may already have at home for this. With HIV, it is especially important to be examined to determine cause of infection and then appropriate medication can be prescribed.

Anything: Could be bug bug bites, papular urticaria, a viral rash, eczema, dry skin. Rashes are not easily diagnosed without seeing them. If it is not chicken pox and is not going away then see a dermatologist.

Hard to call: With your child having the vaccine and testing negative for varicella/chicken pox-the rash could be a contact rash or due to virus. Doubt insect related. Monitor the rash over time offering comfort care -cool water and moisturizer. If spreads or worsens, seek care to determine what might be progressing.

Doubt it: Shingles will emerge from skin on one side of the body, from a single nerve distribution. It does not cross the mid line, and does not emerge in more than one area.The back pain is not part of this. The mouth sore is not. There are many things that produce blistering skin changes.This does not sound like it.
