Well...: Looked up essiac tea ; it was described as a naturopathic product that has been used for cancer. I don't know what it contains as i believe it is a proprietary blend of herbs. I didn't see research on it. I will forward your question to dr. Baker - he may know more about. I can't recommend that you do or don't take it at this point. But there are herbs that are known to help sore throats. Consider.

i have a sore throat for four days now i don't feel sick it feels like i may have a  scratch in there.  i been drinking  hot tea, orange juice.

Nothing Strong: Tea is ok, however orange juice is too irritating on the tissue.  Use something that is more gengle to the tissue.  Also you can  do the usual way is to take liquid medicine or cough drops designed for the throat.  The old way is to gargle with peroxide, the new way is to gargle with Chlorhexidine gluconate (brand name = Peridex (chlorhexidine gluconate) and needs an rx from your physician or dentist).

Throat discomfort: Top diagnoses to think about this time of year would be strep throat, allergic sinusitis &amp; post-nasal drip, all of which can be tied into each other. To help with symptoms, you can obtain an antihistamine like Allegra &amp; pair it with a nasal steroid like Flonase, both are OTC. Gargle with Listerine. Plenty fluids. If you are having fevers and the mucus is yellow-green, see your doc for antibiotics.

Sleep time: Drinking tea at sleep time is OK.
However, if your cough and sore throat is not getting better after one week of the antibiotic, go back to your doctor who will examine you and likely prescribe a different med.

sore throat. rapid strep neg.  culture pend. i am eating popsicles, drinking herbal tea, pushing fluids and resting. md put me on medrol (methylprednisolone) dose pack.  is elderberry good? how do u take it?

Sore throat: Elderberry is no good, in fact may irritate it due to its acidity. I'd do salt water gargles instead. Rapid strep negative, good chance the culture will be negative. Medrol (methylprednisolone) should help, but sounds like an overkill in an uncomplicated sore throat.

Irritant: 1) alcohol can be irritating to oral and pharyngeal tissues;  2) alcohol can induce acid reflux from the stomach into the esophagus and throat causing irritation.

Sore Throat: Hello, this is a difficult question to answer with such limited information. A sore throat can come from a reaction to the alcohol, the alcohol itself could be harsh, or you could possibly have gerd or reflux. Probably a good reason to avoid alcohol and see your doctor for a throat evaluation.
