Dental infection?: Possible dental infection, perhaps a wisdom tooth. Soft palate is a little far back since these tend to show as hard palate swellings. If your dentist doesn't see anything, see an ent. There are cancers such as much mucoepidermoid carcinoma that can arise on the soft palate.

Soft Palate Problem: The palate and the throat are connected to each other. It is possible that the inflammation is associated with the sinus drainage, but you need to have an exam to know what is wrong. See your dentist.

Various: Could be allergies, soft tissue injury such as an abrasion, reaction to your medication. If it is short duration, likely a food allergy.  If longer, could be side effect of medication. If just came on suddenly and getting better daily, it is likely an abrasion. Could be a fungal or viral infection. See your dentist or doctor for a definitive diagnosis.

Soft Palate: It could be from something as simple as trauma to your soft palate (i.e. pizza burn); or it could be something more serious, as an underlying pathology.  Probably best to get it looked at professionally.

Who knows?: Many possibilities.  You have to be examined to be diagnosed in order to select the best treatment.  Your question is similar to, "I have a sore toe...what is this."  Inflammation is a sign, not a Diagnosis.  See ENT or Oral Surgeon.

See your doctor: Leukoplakia, or white patches on the mouth or tongue, may occur because of cellular changes in the oral epithelium, or lining.  At your age, i would not expect to see them, but if you were smoking for a long while, or unusually heavily, they may occur. They can be pre-cancerous and should be evaluated by your physician, who may refer you for further evaluation and treatment.

i have noticed a soft lump, approximately 7mm in diameter on the soft palate. there is no pain but appears for several days and it reoccurs regularly ?

Next time: Next time it appears go immediately to an Oral Surgeon for differential diagnosis and, if required, treatment.

Red patches: Examination required during an outbreak. Probably viral, but may be bacterial. Lab tests may be required to establish diagnosis. See a specialist Oral Pathologist or specialist Oral Surgeon the next time red patches appear.
