to cut down on my soda drinking , i add lemon juice (from concentrate) to a glass of ice water.  can the lemon juice affect my gout?

Yes: The drinking of warm water and freshly squeezed lemons help to neutralize the uric acid in your body.  Try this after every meal.  Sodas are really bad and lead to gout attacks.

See your DR. : Allopurinal os a good alternative to controlling uric acid.  But you need to find out if you are a overproducer of ua.  Take a 24 urine test for ua and your dr will be able to advise on best oral treatment.

can gout sometimes be cured permanently and if so which cases typically do? i think i had it a few months due to fasting mainly on bread & water for a month & a half. can such fasting trigger it? i also suffer from insomnia. i hope its not permanent?

: Fasting and insomnia do not trigger gout attack and your diet seems not consistent as risk factor for gout. You should see a doctor for the correct diagnosis. If gout is truly present, changing diet alone can prevent the recurrence in mild case. In moderate to severe case, you need medication besides the diet for preventing the recurrence or attack. Good luck.

Yes if not treated: Gout is caused by high uric acid which forms crystals in the joints (typically in the 1st toe).  Warm  soaks may help temporarily dissolve the crystals but the best treatment should be  provided by your physician. Get evaluated for causes of high uric acid levels and possibly treated with Allopurinol or other uric acid lowering meds. Indocin, (indomethacin) cochicine, or other ant iinflammatory for acute attacks.

i fasted mainly on bread & water for religious reasons about a month and a half. for the first time in my life my urine exam showed uric acid crystals. i followed a gout diet since and uric acid in blood is 4.0, normal. can gout be cured in my case?

: Uric acid crystals can sometimes be present normally in urine. That does not mean you have gout. Specially if the serum uric acid is 4. Enjoy a normal dit and drink adequate water and you will be fine

Wrong info: You do not need to hydrate to a certain volume on Allopurinol because this med reduces the production of uric acid and therefore reduces the amount in the urine.

just recently drank two cans of fresca soda water within two days. i also had taken cialis over the last 3 days. are there any dangers in this. i see that it is advised not to mix grapefruit with cialis. im not sure if fresca soda water applies?

No: There's an old tale that the phosphorus in it is somehow unhealthy, causes stones or whatever. This is all over the internet but it doesn't make sense. You generate huge amounts of phosphate when you digest healthy food. Enjoy your soda water.
