Venous insufficiency: The veins function to bring the blood in the lower extremity back to the heart. The veins may not be functioning well which would cause swelling in the ankles.This is known as venous insufficiency.

im having alot of lower leg swelling and retaining water. my socks leave deep crease in my legs. my husband's are the same only his legs are red and has water blisters and leaks clear. is it heart failure?what do i do?

Edema CHF?: The reason you are both having edema is in part related to eating more sodium(Na) than your kidneys can get rid of. There are many causes and you need to find out as treatment will differ widely.  I recommend USING the app Cronometer to track Na intake to see where the Na is coming from. Your daily goal should be &lt;1,500 mg Na.  Discuss results with your team.  Keep them and us posted.

Hip problem: You are describing two activities that involve rotation of the hip.  So it is likely that if you are having problems, you might have developed a condition of the hip, the most common of which would be osteoarthritis.  I would not hesitate to be seen and evaluated.

Meralgia?: The sensory issues in the outer area of the thigh is often due to nerve irritation in the groin (called meralgia paraesthetica ! )   Due to increase weight ,pregnancy strenuous exercises etc  Usually not requiring any treatment beyond medications such as LYRICA  Diagnosed with a nerve test  (EMG)

Yes: If the infection is being treated with appropriate antibiotics and if any open wounds are covered you can wear a compression stocking.

Leg pain: Try drinking tonic water. It has quinine which helps with leg cramps.
Valium and Flexeril (cyclobenzaprine hcl) are good muscle relaxants but must be prescribed by a physician.

See physiatrist: Spinal cord injuries are helped by physical medicine & rehabilitation (pm&r) doctors called physiatrists (not psychiatrists). If there is little heat generated in the legs, extra clothing won't help, because clothing only retains heat but doesn't create heat. So, external heating may be needed, but can be dangerous if one has no sensation! the doctor may have ideas on increasing blood flow (heat).
