i have had some test done and they told me my stomach is not emptying into the small intestine correctly, can this be caused by a hernia. ?

Possibly: There are many reasons why your stomach may not be emptying correctly. A large hiatal hernia can certainly cause problems with your stomach properly emptying, however you should have a proper evaluation by a gastroenterologist.

does the air pumped into the colon also inflate the small intestine?  what part of the intestine is likely to be involved in a inguinal hernia?

Accepted Answer

Yes.: Insufflated air from colonoscopy does pass the ileocecal valve and to a degree insufflate small bowel.  An inguinal hernia sac may contain omentum (fatty tissue over bowel), small intestine, or colon.

possible small hernia on lower right of abdomen. no pain, or signs of strangulation, if anything, opposite, more gas and loose bowel movements. insurance won't cover surgery. can i leave this be for now and not worry?

Accepted Answer

Yes: Yes you can, actually the only reason to do surgery is if the patient has discomfort or doesn't want it for aesthetic reasons, beside of course an strangulation or incarceration. Trying to strengthening the groups of muscles around the hernia may also help to restrain it.

if there was hernia present in the testicle, wouldn't i be in pain? wouldn't i feel pain in the abdomen if intestine goes through ab wall?

Not necessarily: You are likely describing an inguinal hernia, with bowel and fat contents herniating through abdomen into inguinal canal and sometimes into the scrotum.  You may feel a bulge when performing heavy lifting, but typically a small hernia may not be painful at all.  Extreme pain would only happen if the hernia twists on itself, which could cause bowel obstruction and a surgical emergency.

i have been diagnosed with a hiatus hernia and inflammation of the small intestines,  now had bloods done for celiac disease why is this ?

Celiac disease: Because of the inflammation of your small intestines a test for celiac is in order.

is it more likely for pains and nausea in the stomach to be caused from a hernia wrapped around small intestine, or from diabietis ?

Accepted Answer

Both are: relatively common reasons.  The relative likelihood would depend on severity of intestinal adhesions and degree of control of diabetes.  First is a mechanical obstruction, the second is a nerve problem.  There are certain tests that can differentiate between the two.  Ask for a referral to a GI specialist if your symptoms persist.

hello i felt a slip or a tug at my lower left abdomen lifting a bin. at 2.5 inches left of my naval and then 3 inches down i feel a small knot. soreness. same knot, a bit smaller, is on the other side of my abdomen. no soreness there. hernia or pull?

: It could be either, needs a careful exam by a surgeon,. in the meantime use local heat avoid any heavy lifting. hope you do well

small egg shaped bump that appears occasionally in abdomen, where hernias seem to happen. no pain, and bump goes away. strange thing is it only shows up when laying down, not standing up or exercising. this seems to be opposite of info on hernia?

Bump: If the bump is in the very middle of the abdomen this may not be a hernia but diastasis recti which is a separation of the 2 muscles on either side of the midline of the abdominal wall. This bump becomes accentuated when you're lying down and tighten the abdominal muscle by lifting only your head off the pillow. When the wall is relaxed  there is no bump as the muscles come back together

i have been diagnosed with hernia which is still very small. i do have a bit of pain in my lower abdomen when i bend forward. is surgery the only way to address this condition?

Hernia: Surgery is the recommended treatment for hernia when symptoms are worse enough and cannot be monitored due to pain and increasing size.
