See a podiatrist....: It sounds like an arthritic bone ridge that is forcing a nerve to be compressed and irritated when you wear shoes.  It may be as simple as stretching out your shoes over this area, or having the bony lump smoothed down surgically.

MRI: 1/2 an egg size seems fairly large. I would get an MRI.

Possible cyst: May be a cyst, which is a small fluid filled structure. They can develop in many different areas of the body. If the area isn't painful and if it doesn't grow larger, you can probably ignore it. However if it grows larger haver a doctor check it.

Ganglion cyst?: Sounds like this could be a ganglion cyst (fluid filled bump).  Does it move around?  Could be interfering with a nerve causing the "fuzzy" feeling in the toes.  Usually there is no bruising with a ganglion unless the cause was trauma.  This should be checked out by your physician.  You can never be too cautious about bumps or lumps.

In theory : It would not be a DVT as the D stands for deep. There is the dorsal venous arch that could get a clot but it would be superficial. Clots in the foot are usually very painful to the exact spot of the clot. If you still have something there why not go get it checked out....

Ganglion cyst: Look up synovial cyst or ganglion cyst that occurs on tendons  esp the wrist.    It should not be that red though.

Corns: Most times, lumps on the top of toes are corns. These result from shoe pressure on the "knuckles" of the toes. The best remedy is to change to a type of shoe that doesn't irritate the toes. Avoid over-the-counter corn removal products as most contain salicylic acd and can cause painful burns.

Hard to say: Without seeing what your talking about. Possibly, ganglionic cyst? (Just a guess, as we would need to see/examine you)
