See your surgeon yes: Persistent pain more than 3 months out form a slap repair warrants a visit to your surgeon to make sure the repair has healed.

Yes, In Time: Regardless of the tissue repaired, primary healing takes 3 months and we recommend avoiding any stressful activities that may compromise the healing process (including aggressive pt). Act your age: At this age you are not going to be earning a living playing baseball but you may need that shoulder for your actual line of work and family activities. Overhead pitching wreaks havoc on the shoulder and you should take care of your injury and likely degenerative shoulder rather than risk more significant damage and dysfunction.

No, slap tears will: only get worse. an acute repaired is the best, but late reconstruction of the b9icepts and labral area can be done.

: Your surgeon made a judgement that your  supraspinatus/ subscapularis tendon tears were not severe enough to repair. A rule of thumb is to repair a tendon that is torn to a depth of 50% or more. Your labral tear/SLAP lesion was taken care of with the detachment of the biceps tendon from the insertion that was torn and transferring it and then reattaching it. You had the best surgery for you.

Surgery : Surgery is a consideration.  A "slap" tear is a tear of the labrum, which is the cartilage "cup" that helps hold the humerus in the glenoid and can be repaired arthroscopically.  I would discuss options directly with your orthopedic surgeon.

Depends: Depending on the severity of the tear and the significance of the symptoms, there are two basic options.  Physical therapy can decrease pain and improve function by strengthening different parts of the shoulder to take stress off of the labrum ( the structure that is torn with a slap tear) .  Surgery aims to tack the labrum back to where it came from and have it heal . This will also fix it.
