my husband had wrist reconstruction surgery 3 weeks ago yesterday and today his fingers have started peeling from the palm joint up.  is this normal?

: Temporary interruption of blood flow to the wrist/hand getting reconstructive surgery may cause exfoliation of the outer skin, but see the physician who performed the surgery to be certain.

slac ! should i have my wrist fused? will it relieve the pain? will i ever be able to do the things i used to do?

Problem: If you get your hand fused it will limit motion and it does not always completely eliminate pain.

Neglect/Activity dep: If only rarely symptomatic, i would not suggest any therapy. Surgical options include arthrodesis or proximal row carpectomy, both cause loss of motion.  We suspect that the more one uses the injured wrist heavily, the degeneration and pain will increase. Thus the prognosis is related to use.

on mri of wrist, what does "severe disi associated with scapholunate tear with slac" mean?   i have mild pain when doing pushups, no other symptoms.

Wrist: Scapholunate dissociation is caused by scapholunate ligament tear which creates widening of scapholunate space.  This is the most common ligament injury of the wrist which if untreated may lead to dorsal intercalated segment instability (disi) and scapholunate advanced collapse (slac).

Osteopath: Wrist pain can have myriad diagnoses and i think a general osteopath can overlook subtleties of wrist pain as well as physiotherapists. I think having an evaluation by a hand surgeon is important.

Call Your Surgeon: This may be after effects of the surgery or expected healing. However, it is essential that you call your surgeon and discuss it. Surgeons wish to know about the after procedure course of their patients. That person knows best what to advise you to do.

2 nurses struggled to find pulse in my r arm when doing bp (117/78),but did easily in left.i have hx r shoulder reconstruction & that arm is bigger from less movement.i also can detect radial pulse in my l but not r wrist.is this concerning/serious?

: shoulder reconstrucstion should not affect palpation of the radial artery. It is best to see a vascular surgeon to find if there is an abnormality

Resistance training: Using either weights or resistance bands to create tension in both the flexor and extensor muscles repetitively is a good method of strengthening the wrists. My preferred method is using resistance bands to do isometric strengthening exercises - i.e. Create tension in the wrist then hold for 10+ seconds, repetitively.

Multiple: A good hand therapist or trainer will have a great home program.
However..Silly putty/thera putty round into a ball then squeeze then round. Take a dowel with a weight hanging from rope..Then twist dowel both directions to bring weight to dowel. Tuck elbow into side while holding a hammer in your hand then turn palm up and down...Just a couple to get you going.
