tried skip period on pill. been spotting past 3 weeks since start new pack, now bleeding heavily a week before next placebo pills. when will it stop?!

Breakthrough bleed: Sounds like breakthrough bleeding which occurs when you have bleeding at unscheduled times while on the pill. Often things get back to normal the next cycle. If not then schedule a visit to discuss changing brands  or changing birth control methods. This is very common. Other than being annoying it is not dangerous.

bcp 3 mths, miss last pill of 1st wk this mth and bf cums in me on d20 of pill. bleed/spot frm d11. im on my placebo pills tmr. will i get pregnant?

Not sure I: understand. But if you have only missed one oral contraceptive pill over the last three months  then chance of pregnancy is very low.  If you  miss your period would take a home pregnancy test.

Skipping periods: If you skip all the placebo pills and continue taking hormonal pills from the next pack you should not get a period. There could be breakthrough bleeding, but usually that happens after more than 5-6 weeks of continuous use, some women do not have any breakthrough bleeding for months at a time and skip all their placebo pills - as a treatment for heavy periods, painful periods or endometriosis.

my re put me on bc and said to skip placebos so that i wouldnt have a period. ive been bleeding for 8 days, so obvs i have a period. is this bad?

: The way the hormonal oral contraceptive pill works is by modulating the levels of estrogen and progesterone so that the body won't ovulate. The uterine lining is still built up every month because of the estrogen. By taking only the hormone pills, you are not allowing your body to slough off the uterine lining. Expect a heavier period. Ask your Dr about a progesterone only pill for no periods

what happens if i skip taking the placebo pills and start right on the next active pill back? will i skip withdrawal bleeding?

: Some physicians will prescribe multiple packs of "active" bcp's without a "break" for the week of placebo pills.  See your GYN physician for guidance, but when taking two or more packs just using the active pills is not harmful, and will eliminate breakthrough bleeding unless you are not punctual in taking the active pills at the same hour of the prior day's active pill.

: Your question confuses me, because the period comes at the time one is taking the placebo pills.  If you have breakthrough bleeding at other times, you need a different BCP.  See a trusted MD.

have btb from missing a pill at the beginning of the pack. 4 active pills left but had btb for about a wk. would it be ok to skip placebos and still be protected? i really don't want to bleed anymore.

Yes: There are no studies that have yet to show that skipping your period by not taking the placebo has an harmful effects on your health. Just check with your pharmacy that you will be able to get your next pack on time, as you don't want to mIss taking them.

i have endometriosis, is it safe to skip my placebo pills or only take 4 out of 7 so i'm not in so much pain? also on nexplanon to control irreg bleed

Accepted Answer

Unclear: It is not clear exactly what you are referring to. If you are on Nexplanon then there normally one would not also be taking birth control pills. Sometimes doctors will give a low dose birth control pill if a Nexplanon user experiences breakthrough bleeding. Normally in those cases one does not take the placebo pills at all. Clarify the plan with the prescribing doctor
