Applying the shampoo, letting it dry on for 10 minutes,  washing it off, do this daily for 7-10 days may do the trick. Or .... Ask your doctor for a single dose of Fluconazole or ketoconazole and watch your skin clear up.

The : The pediatrician is referring to a condition called seborrheic dermatitis. It presents as flaky scalp (appears like dandruff) and dry patches on the skin. The cause is unclear. Some doctors believe it is due to a rare yeast. Treatment includes shampoos selsun blue. I usuallly tell parents to use a very small amount 2-3 times per week until they see an improvement. Also, brush your baby's scalp with a soft brush to loosen the flakes. If the selsun blue does not work ask your doctor for an alternative treatment. To answer the last part of your question, no you dont have to let it sit on the skin or scalp, just wash in usual fashion; lotion is fine. If the spots look more red after use and it persists then discontinue and consult your doctor. If it returns to previous state then no need to worry.

Find the cause: Shampoos might be more appropriate if its actually seborrhea. Eczema calls for a search as to its cause and correcting whatever it is -- you may even be allergic to a hair care product.

Trial and error,: There is no rhyme or reason to the sensitivity you are experiencing. Many patients allergic to sulfa will react to Selsun. Dove is fairly mild. Neutogena is mild and non-allergenic and many of my patients have done well with Zinc products. A trial of Zincon shampoo may be helpful. If these don't work see your physician or Dermatologist for other options. Good luck and good hair.

Could: It depends on how severe and how deep the burn was whether or not the skin will return to its normal color after a chemical burn. Hope this helps.

Selsun Blue: Effects should not be lingering 2 months after its use.  If you have some skin issues that are truly symptomatic and not simply some subjective 'feeling', you should see your local dematologist.
