Not really...: Boys tends to take longer to erupt their molars than girls...we don't know why. Pediatric dentists deal with not only years but 'years and months.' If your child just turned two, then this is normal but if they are approaching three years old, I would have them evaluated by a dentist.

Depends: If these were "baby" molars, then there is a new tooth underneath which will erupt and replace the removed teeth.  If these were neglected adult molars, then they will not be replaced.  Check with your dentist about which category your child falls into.

do children need sealants for both six year and twelve year molars? i never had sealants as a kid, was told by a friend that our daughter will probably need sealants placed on both her six year and twelve year molars. is this likely the case?

As : As prevention is always better than treatment sealants are a good idea for any molars that have deep grooves and are exposed to the elements. This is especially true if your daughter is cavity prone.

Yes: All 20 baby teeth will eventually fall out.  The molars may fall out last, around age 10 or so.

No: But if he used to have his hands in the mouth all the time while teething, he probably induced the physiologic gag reflex and regurgitation.

Pain medication: Try giving him some Motrin and consider a topical medication that can numb the area such as oragel.

Possibly 3rd molars.: At your age, your 3rd molars (also called wisdom teeth) may be close to erupting, and you may not have space for them. This is characterized by gums raised enough that your 2nd molars bite down on them, causing a cycle of pain, inflammation, and possibly infection. This is called pericoronitis, and the treatment is usually removal of your 3rd molars. Ask your dentist to evaluate you for this.
