Menopause related.: Lack of estrogen after menopause causes, amongst other things, thinning of urethral lining, which in turn reduces protection from bacteria from entering urethra &amp; reaching bladder. Treat constipation, if present. Shower rather than bathe, Wear cotton underwear, urinate after sex. Can be helped by hormone replacement therapy. Discuss with your Dr. Consult with ear, nose &amp; throat Dr regarding sinus.

Probably unrelated: Cefuroxime, if one reads the fda approved side-effect list, may cause urinary tract symptoms rarely, but this is usually a report based upon simultaneous illnesses occurring at the same time. In your case would look to see if this is true as a first measure. Consult with the doctor who rx'd the cefuroxime.

i started on biaxin (clarithromycin) xl for a sinus infection. i was urinating and went to wipe and noticed red blood on tissue and in toilet. is this a side effect?

On Anticoagulation?: If you are taking a blood thinning agent like warfarin, the antibiotic may be decreasing  your ability to clot; talk to your doctor or allied health professional about it.

Hematuria: The presence of blood in the urine is taken very seriously. Our worst fear is cancer of the bladder or stones in the bladder etc. Please see  see a doctor forthwith.

Wrong test site: A urine dip stick picks up white blood cells that are present in urine if  there is an inflammatory process in the urinary tract.  It does so by testing for an enzyme (leukocyte esterase)  present in white cells.  The urinary system is a filter of the blood stream but usually active white cells are very sticky and would not make it from the circulation to the urine. ?Sinus aspirate?

That should be fine: No, you should be able to take the z-pak with no problems.  The two drugs treat different things to some extent, so it's not a problem.

Symptoms : There are several symptoms to tackle here. Most sinus infections are viral not needing antibiotics, some do need antibiotics. We dont treat strong-smelling urine alone. Yeast infection needs to be evaluated with more details. See a doctor, start with telemedicine

Get an antibiotic: There are antibiotics made just for sinus infections.  Surprisingly, not all types of antibiotics work for all parts of the body in the same way.  See your doctor for the proper prescription.
