Sinus swelling/pain: 24 year old male wakes with intense nose/sinus pain/ pressure for several hours due to infection causing inflammation and swelling of the nasal passages and the sinuses around the nose. Inflammation causes pain and swelling blocks the sinus and air passages making breathing uncomfortable. The position of the head while sleeping can also worsen the blockage.

Sinusitis : Chronic rhinosinusitis is one of the most common diseases affecting quality of life. Have you seen ENT? Tried netti pot? Many treatment options available. Recommend you see ENT: in meantime natural options like Persian Medicine Protocol (including Lavender oil and L.M tea) may help.

Congestioin: When you eat you "rest and digest" which is a  vagal response. This helps to digest, but can send signsl to head for congestion. 
Another possibility could be some type of food allergy.

Saline lavage : You might have pressure because the saline rinse got into your sinuses. Generally, there should be no concern and this should resolve on its own. It is important to use previously boiled water or distilled water to mix with saline for use in the nose. If problems worsen, see an ENT MD.

No: You can have sinus pressure without having a stuffy nose. The sinuses are nothing more than air spaces with in the bones of some of your skull. They could be filled with fluid or infected without the congestion of the nasal passage ways which would cause them to feel excessive pressure and possibly pain.

Not unusual: Please make an appointment with your family physician as there are prescription medications that are much better than OTC drugs that will relieve your congestion. I would also recommend using hot wet compresses to the face for 5 minutes 3 times daily &amp; if you smoke STOP NOW if not forever.

Cold weather can: Just the effects of the cold weather can cause runny nose and sinus problems.  However, it is also a time when your resistance is lowered and viruses can be spread.  

As long as you are not in pain, it is only 2 days away for your x-rays.  I suggest an old fashioned remedy which is to breath steam from a pot of water.  Becareful not to burn yourself.  This is what I use.
