Status asthmaticus: If you are in the midst of an exacerbation of asthma and are using accessory muscles during the attack and showing hyperinflation, you are having very serious respiratory distress, build up of carbon dioxide and continued symptoms will lead to respiratory fatigue and possible respiratory arrest. You should be hospitalized to get your asthma under control ASAP.

Infection of the muscles or joints can occur when bacteria in the blood deposit the germs there, or an infection spreads from another site. The symptoms usually involve pain plus the systemic signs like fever, weakness, nausea etc. Some clue is usually there in the history about these diseases so I hope u can go to a doc and get it checked out.

Rest: If you acutely pulled the muscle then the best treatment would be ice, rest, and an anti-inflammatory drug. Then after a few days i suggest switching to heat and to do some gentle stretching.

Need more info: How old is your friend? What diseases does he have? What you described sounds like a pulmonary embolism. Your friend should see a doctor asap.

Cough: Isn't caused by a muscle pull, it can be due to upper / lower respiratory tract infections, mostly viral, OTC cold and flu remedies would help, read the labels carefully and don't exceed recommended dosage and duration, if no improvement or symptoms are severe / uncontrollable , see your doctor for evaluation , good luck

Lung cancer cachexia: Muscle wasting and weight loss ("cancer cachexia") are usually late stage occurrences; malabsorption is usually not the cause of these signs, but rather "hormones" released from the tumor cause a hyper metabolic state and also contribute to poor appetite. If you are already experiencing these problems, however, it is possible that the tumor - although localized (stage 1) is unusually active.

Lung cancer: Would not be my first guess,  but if you have concerns,  other symptoms or a family history, then have it checked, maybe discuss with primary and get chest x ray.  However, lung cancer is not a common cause for the symptoms you are having. Look at sleep or ergonomic changes that could be contributing. Have physical exam see if neck issues like arthritis or something irritating nerve roots.

Yes it does!!: You should stop worrying about having Lung Cancer.
You should get out and exercise such as a daily walk. That will take care of your present symptoms of fatigue etc.
