Yes: any one can have food allergies. in fact sea food allergies are the one of the commonest food allergies.

Accepted Answer

Yes, its possible: Aerosolized allergens has been mostly discussed in the literature with peanut allergy, but it can occur with other food allergens as well.  Most importantly, if you think you are allergic to shrimp or other shellfish, see an allergist to be tested.

if i have an allergic reaction only to undercooked shrimp, wouldn't i just be allergic to shrimp all the time?

Shrimp allergy: Many foods have multiple allergens some of which may be destroyed by cooking. Most of time people react to cooked shrimp but it is possible to only be allergic to the protein which are destroyed by cooking. However over time you could develop allergy to cooked shrimp as well.

what to do if i have allergic reaction if i do exercise after eating shrimps?

Accepted Answer

Exercise induced: Food associated anaphylaxis is uncommon, but can happen.  Wheat and shrimp are the most common culprits.  Patients can eat the food without exercising, or exercise without eating the food and be fine.  Be very careful to not eat shrimp within 4 hours of exercise and i would suggest not at all on exercise days.  You should also see an allergist and have an Epipen (epinephrine) available.

can i have developed an allergy to shrimp or is the seasoning the culprit? i have eaten seafood all my life including shrimp. i recently had some shrimp that i had an allergic reaction to. i beleive it was the seasoning i may have been allergic to.

Accepted Answer

Based : Based on your history of eating shrimp it is more likely the seasoning is the culprit.  One other possibility is that the shrimp was spoiled.  The only way to determine if you have a true allergy is to have a sensitivity test performed.

Could be: Patients are allergic to shellfish. This could be a manifestation of an allergy.

See an allergist: For specific testing to scallops. They are not exactly in the same food family as shrimp..So you may be allergic to shrimp but not scallops.

Accepted Answer

Difficult to answer: Seafood includes shellfish and fish.  Shellfish includes mollusks and crustaceans.  You describe being able to eat a sea dwelling fish (tuna) and a crustacean (shrimp).  Therefore you are not allergic to seafood.  Lobsters and crabs are crustaceans and share the same allergy inducing protein tropomyosin. It does not appear you are allergic to that  or you would have had trouble with shrimp.

i had some shrimp tacos and now i'm itchy. took some loratadine, can i still breastfeed my 2 month old baby if i get an allergic reaction?

No contraindication: Okay to continue breastfeeding.  Loratadine also safe to use during breastfeeding.

when i eat lobster, crab, & shrimp my stomach starts to bubble and makes my stomach feel full.so i have to throw up is that an allergic reaction?

Check with your doc: Blood testing for allergies has become much more accurate. Check with your doc if you should have some screening.
