: Please get an exam and a blood screen for heavy metals. Lead toxicity has been known to form a discoloration in the gums, and may show up in other body parts.

Truama or fungal nai: Discoloration may be due to fungal nail changes causing excessive sublingual debris vs trauma induced. For example certain activities may cause bleeding under the nail or dry blood. If in the tip and drains out it causes automatic desertion of the nail. If no sorrow ding redness or swelling it's not urgent but should be looked at. Likely cause usually fungal nail or trauma

Depends: It may depend on what color your natural skin color is. Some dark skinned individuals have dark gray streaks in their toenails fingernails. However there are other causes of it which may include a hematoma or melanoma or fungal infection. Have your podiatrist check it out.

Push'in too hard.: Nothing says aching like pressure, especially in the toenail area. The solution is to isolate the cause of the pressure and relieve it. The amount of discomfort it is causing, will dictate the level of treatment. It is hard it evaluate the condition without actually seeing and touching it, but my guess is the nail might need an x-ray, to check for bone issues, before lifting the nail gently off.

my foot was run over by a car abt 7 days ago. just yesterday my big toenail turned grey/purple and is lifting on the side. is there anything i can do?

Yes.: The crush injury to ft left u with at least destruction of toenail itself and/or the nailed at base, where new nail grows. Hopefully, u iced it, which is effective for decrease pain, swelling, slow down damage to tissue for 1st 48 hrs. X-ray it, because small bones in ft can fx & necrose.. If only nail damaged, can protect it & let new nail grow, or have removed by podiatrist. Either way, c doc.

Loose nail...: I can't be sure, but it sounds as though the nail is loosely attached to the bed or not attached at all. To remove all doubt, have your toe evaluated by a specialist.

Probably: It does sound like an ingrown toenail, which usually does involve infection.  The corner of the nail grows into the skin edge and burrows in causing infection.  If it is mild, you can sometimes keep the nail edge elevated out of the skin and it can grow past the area.  If that does not work, probably would be good to be seen.

Wart?: You may consider it being a plantar wart which often look gray and can increase in size without pain or itching. If he's growing another one, he may be reinfecting himself as it is caused by a virus. You can try over the counter wart removal products like salicylic acid  or bichloracetic acid or self-freezing kits. Or you can have your doctor look at it and possibly freeze it with liquid nitrogen

Discoloration: in the toenails can be an indication of nail fungus.  You need to have it looked at by a Podiatrist for proper diagnosis and treatment plan.  If that is the issue there are many good natural and prescription medications that will take care of it!
