Yes: Insulin injections are subcutaneous, meaning the medicine is deposited in the skin.  Just because you give yourself the injection over the baby does not mean the medication is going directly to the baby.

Gestational diabetes: The tendency for "GD" to occur in pregnancy can be a predictor of later onset of Type 2 diabetes.  Hypoglycemia is of course lower blood glucose levels,  and "insulin resistance" is a condition which promotes hyperglycemia (increased blood glucose levels).  In the future, with a history of "GD", make sure to reduce carbs, exercise and control your weight to avoid onset of Type 2 diabetes.

Glucose control: During pregnancy mothers have a physiologic adjustment and become Insulin resistant. This is for fetal exchange of  nutrients.

Not necessarily: If your blood sugars are well controlled and there are no other complications, you do not neccesarily need to deliver before 39 weeks just because of gestational diabetes. Your OB will be watching closely and let you know is there is a reason for early delivery. Best wishes to you and the baby.

Unclear: Having an abortion should not have much effect on Insulin levels. If you are diabetic then it is more important to monitor blood sugar than Insulin levels. Consider seeing an Obgyn to clarify why Insulin levels are being monitored.

alc is 7.0)i changed my diet & working on reversing my type 2. i would like to get pregnant & i want to know if i keep my glucose controlled through out pregnancy will my baby born with birth defects & will i hav to take insulin? im not on any meds

Some basics: Every pregnancy has a basic risk approaching 4% of an unexpected outcome including birth defects,prematurity,infection &amp; others. A fetus makes its own insulin &amp; good glucose control limits the risk of an oversized baby or one with hypoglycemia after the cord is clamped. Insulin use may/not be in your future. You cannot eliminate all risk but good control maximizes your chance for a normal outcome

does weekly injections of makena p17 shots in pregnancy have a negative long term effect on either fetus or a mother with insulin resistance? is it safe to have such a high dose of progesterone circulating in the bloodstream ?

New studies out: At this point this medication has been viewed as being safe for many years and not to be Seen has any effect on a fetus however but there are new studies that have come out where there might be in effect I would suggest talking to your maternal fetal medicine physician which is a high risk obgyn

i only have enough metformin until my 11th week of pregnancy. i dont see my new ob until the beginning of may. would it be okay to stop metformin on week 11 as opposed to week 12? i dont have insulin resistance. prescribed metformin for pcos?

: Would not stop.  Would consult our urgent care clinic for refill until you are seen by your new OB or contact your new OB for a refill.

i have come off the contraceptive pill 2 weeks ago since then i feel nauseas sense  smell is hightened negative pregnancy test cold this be sideffects?

Possibly: Hormonal changes can make you nauseous and affect your senses. See your gynecologist but usually time will help unless you have hormonal imbalance.
