Not always: Shoulder cyst is a result of tear in the shoulder joint causing the joint fluid to leak outside causing a cyst, its treatment depends on the location and the symptoms and weather the cyst is causing pressure on important structures or nerves, and also on associated injuries as tears in the joint around the shoulder socket if surgery is required it is usually done by keyhole surgery (arthroscopy)
