right shoulder blade pain today. how likely is it just from sleeping wrong?

Unlikely: There are multiple cause of shoulder blade pain. You can get referee pain from a pinched nerve in you neck or arm. You can have a bursitis under the shouler blade. Or while unlikely there can be a tumor.

Primary care MD: Check with  your primary MD or internist. Could be something other than musculoskeletal.

Maybe: Pain and irritation are more commonly at armpits, the area involved. But the scarring tissue may make pain and irritation extended to surrounding areas.

Back pain: Both of what you think it may be, are possible; herniated disc, muscle spasm can cause the pain also, may need to see your doctor if pain continues or worsens.

Yes: Most of the times poor sleep postures are also associated with daytime poor postures. This creates fatigue and overload in some muscles leading to pain.

Need evaluation: Could be muscle sprain . Try analgesic topicals and analgesic pills.

Blame the couch!: You may have slept on the couch and rolled on your side, and slept that way for a long period of time. This is enough to cause your shoulder blade to be in a position that is not ideal unlike sleeping in your own bed. The pressure of side sleeping too long in one position can further affect your neck, shoulder positions and may cause your clavicle, AC joint and sternum discomfort.

rt sided chest pain radiating to back, shoulder/shoulder blade.  sleeping in recliner bec when i lay down chest pain is worse and on both sides. ideas?

Many causes: Muscle pulls, stress, gastroesophageal reflux, hepatitiis , pancreatitis, pleuritis(inflammation of lining of lung), gastritis, and gall bladder disease to name few major causes. Laying down with intensification of pain sometimes leads more to ge reflux and certain fatty foods usually affect gb. Should consult your physician for work up.

Evaluation: Persistent Left shoulder blade pain can result from strains, bursitis etc.  please see you doctor for evaluation.
