Q: how many lymph nodes are in your neck?

Many: Lymphatic system absorbs/carries things too big to go into the arteries/veins like bacteria eaten by white cells and digested food. Lymph nodes "taste" the lymph for anything bad like bacteria/viruses/cancers, etc. When it detects a problem, it alerts the immune system and your body reacts. Lymphnodes : Please get evaluated by a practitioner. If there is concern that these are getting larger then you need a lymph node biopsy to further work this up.

No- tests needed: Recurrent fungal Skin infections don't result in shotty lymph nodes. In a young adult, other conditions should be evaluated.  This includes viral infections  such as HIV.

is it ok to have multiple shotty lymph nodes under 2cm throughout head and neck and have one which is 2.5 cm very soft and moveable and fluctuates siz?

Needs follow up: Asymptomatic but persistent neck nodes can be due to chronic sinus or nasal issues, allergies, lymphadenopathy disorders such as castlemans disease, etc. And also sometimes due to lymphomas which are low grade in nature. If there is no satisfactory cause identified over time then evaluation by an infectitous disease or hematology specialist may be of use.

been to dr at least 6 times for swollon lymph nodes in neck and groin. all say they are "shotty nodes". now i found another node in my armpit. cancer?

Cancer is scary: All men your age have some palpable lymph nodes. If this was cancer, it would be one of the malignant lymphomas and you'd know you are seriously sick as the nodes would enlarge greatly or you'd feel terrible. However, I have a sense that you do have symptoms, and the next step might be testing for infectious mono, toxo, CMV and hiv; if you can find a surgeon to biopsy a node, it's your option.

hard, fixed lymph nodes in neck. u/s stated nodes appeared normal. can u/s distinguish a hard node from soft node? can u/s detect nhl?

Neck masses: Other than lymph nodes in neck are commonly thyroid nodules, branchial cleft cysts, lipomas.  If you can feel these masses in your neck, have your doctor order a ct or mri.  Ultrasound is particularly good at telling whether a mass is solid or cystic, not hard or soft.

is it normal for lymph nodes to swell on both sides of the neck? i dont feel sick and they dont hurt. its just a fullness feeling.

Bilateral lymph node: swelling is not normal and should be evaluated by a health care professional even if you do not feel sick. Make an appointment today.

Not necessarily: Shotty or small lymph nodes (<1 cm) may not be abnormal.  However if they subsequently grow, then that may warrant more investigation.
