BP and short-term memory: Increasing damage to the brain blood vessels caused by untreated hypertension could eventually lead to memory loss because non-memory areas of the brain are not able to keep up.

is it ok to exercise with very high blood pressure?

Yes: Exercise can improve blood pressure if done regularly. But if you have high blood pressure you need it treated first as when you exercise your pressures will rise dramatcally.Treat blood preesure first then exercise and then determine with your physi ian what is the best for you as you improve. While exercise at wt loss are beneficial they do not replcace medications in the acute setting.

Low salt diet: Exercise & weight loss...Medication if lifestyle changes are ineffective.  Talk to your physician.

Make him understand: if untreated will lead to serious complications , stroke , heat attacks, kidney failure etc. By simple medication will avoid all those complications,make him understand and  convince him what is good good  him , you did at least once , he married you right  !  Good Luck

: The epinephrine could be released at some times in the day causing elevated blood pressure and then not at other times. There could be a tumor releasing the epinephrine and this needs to be ruled out. An endocrine doctor should be seen to diagnose this possibility. It is called pheochromocytoma. If present, it needs to be removed-some are benign others malignant. Get this checked! Good luck!

Palpitations: I would be concerned since you are feeling this all day long.  Since you are sure you "have very high blood pressure" I would have my heart checked out.  If you are having any pain or pressure in your chest you need to go to the ER now.

True "white coat"?: If a person only has measurements of elevated blood pressure at the clinic, but normal measurements at home, at work, and during the stressful moments of his day, then he is likely ok. However, if he tries his best to check his blood pressure during times of stress (not relaxed on the sofa), and keeps a record of all the measurements, and many are elevated, then his doctor may want to treat him.

my mom (59) had very  high blood pressure yesterday (180/110). although she took enap her reading this morning was 140/100. please tell me what to do?

More info: If ENAP is a new med, stay on it and bood pressure will continue to drop over 2 weeks.  If this is a chronic med, talk to your doc about raising dose or adding another med.

Anti-hypertensive: It can be but usually not recommended or used for stage i hypertension. Typically betablocker, acei or arb, thiazide diuretics, or calcium channel blockers are recommended used as first line agents.

my husband has very high blood pressure. usually it sits at around 180/110 even with lisinopril. we use meth recreationally. every time we do his blood pressure lowers. this morning it was 119/79, why would it normalize his blood pressure?

: Taking "meth" is dangerous regardless , but with hypertension of the degree mentioned, even more so.  There is no clinical explanation for "normalization" of blood pressure after using " meth", but recommend your husband see an internist for more aggressive treatment of hypertension and stop the "meth" !!
