Sharp pains: Such sharp,fleeting chest pains brought on by a deep breath are often due to a pinched intercostal nerve or muscle which runs between 2 ribs. This is more of a nuisance disorder that resolves on its own after a day or two. If the symptom persists longer, a cough,fever or true shortness of breath develop, see your physician for evaluation.

A pinched nerve: can be caused by being sandwiched between two spinal bones, pressed by a bulging. It can cause muscle spasm and back pain. Prevention treatment is always recommended. This condition must be professionally managed. See interventional pain management specialist for definitive diagnosis and management. It is the same as a pinched nerve.

Chest discomfort: This vague symptom may be from an irritable superficial nerve or mildly inflamed muscle in the rib cage. Heart or lung causes seem less likely at this time. If the symptom persists or worsens see your physician or cardiologist for evaluation. A 12 lead  EKG and/or a chest xray may then be ordered depending upon the assessment.

Sounds llike: COSTOCHONDRITIS an inflammation of the cartilage "joints" between your ribs and breastbone. Try local ice/heat and an anti-inflammatory  such as ibuprofen.  See your GP/Family Physician if the symptoms persist. Hope this is helpful!

Costochondritis: You probably have an inflammation in your rib called costochondritis. This will only occur on one side, is relieved by OTC  pain medications, &amp; usually goes away by itself. Did you have a recent viral infection,  fall, injury or strain? These things can cause this condition. Hope that helps.

See cardiologist: You may well have problem with coronary disease because of your diabetes.  There is obviously something wrong with your heart and you need to consult a cardiologist ASAP since the problem can be very serious.

Medical evaluation: Could be many possibilities, an evaluation from your doctor is advised. Gastritis can not explain all those symptoms. Could be something muscular.
