why does my foot hurt bad after it got the ingrown toenail removed by a doctor befour the nail even grew all the way back a sharp pain?

Follow up: With the doctor who performed the procedure. Sometimes, there may be a piece of nail that was not removed, other times a cyst may of developed where the procedure was performed.

Pushing too hard..: It sounds like you have a sharp area of nail, known as a nail spicule, causing sharp pain when pushed on. Stop pushing on it and have it evaluated if the condition escalates. Sometimes all that is needed is a simple trimming of the spicule.

People don't : always feel when something is stuck - but usually they do. It sounds like it was small - so hopefully it  will pass through your GI tract .

Toe pain: These are signs of inflammation or injury. If there's no history of trauma or abnormal pressure on the toe from tight footwear, inflammation from gout, other forms of arthritis, ingrown toenail or infection are possibilities. A podiatrist would be best to evaluate,advise and treat you. In the meantime administer warm water soaks until examined.

Toe nail: Depends what caused the condition. If fungal it would need to treated with an anti-fungal medication or with some type of debridement. The nail may have injured in the past and need surgical correction. An ingrown nail may cause a local infection and should be removed by podiatrist.

Subungual hematoma: Is a possibility which is blood under the nail from microtrauma, either bumping the toe or hitting it. You may want to check this with a doctor as you would want to rule out a more dangerous condition like a melanoma.

If it is growing: into the skin, a podiatrist can perform a minor survey to narrow the width of the toenail so that this no longer happens.

If it didn’t cut-: -the skin, infection is not likely. If it popped out of the nail bed, tucking it back under the cuticle I have found greater than 50% of them will reattach. If not reattached &amp; a new nail begins to grow out under it, I trim the back side of the nail &amp; leave the front in place, if real loose tape it around the toe to hold it in place,much more comfortable than the exposed nail bed.see a podiatrist.
