If it didn’t cut-: -the skin, infection is not likely. If it popped out of the nail bed, tucking it back under the cuticle I have found greater than 50% of them will reattach. If not reattached & a new nail begins to grow out under it, I trim the back side of the nail & leave the front in place, if real loose tape it around the toe to hold it in place,much more comfortable than the exposed nail bed.see a podiatrist.
