Pain: If your provider was taking a direct look at your cervix I can understand why you might have discomfort. This is unlikely to cause significant issues. However, if fever or you develop discharge or bleeding get checked.

Depends: Did they do a biopsy? If they only looked and didn't biopsy, sex is fine whenever. If they did a biopsy, we usually tell patients 2 weeks.

At least until...: You get your results. There may be a chemical cautery medication applied to your cervix to help stop bleeding that can get rubbed off and cause new bleeding, make things messy, and potentially cause irritation for either you or your partner.

Hard to say: It is hard to say why your pap was normal with moderate dysplasia present. Good thing it was caught now and you can get treated, Your doctor may want to follow up with the company reading the pap smears and suggest a quality control analysis be performed.

Continued sex is OK: HPV sometimes lies dormant and then causes pap smear abnormalities years later. This is much more likely than a new infection. Since you have been having regular sex with your husband, he has already been repeatedly exposed and undoubtedly infected, and likely his immune system has already eliminated the virus. There is no need to stop having sex, either for your health or his.

i have low grade lesions on cervix. i previously had hpv (not 16 or 18) but previous 2 paps were good. now this, and i also have spotting after sex. colposcopy is weeks away, how likely is it cancerous? could it advance that quickly? scared.

Low grade not cancer: It is appropriate to have colposcopy to investigate the low grade abnormal cells.  These can be caused by infections or precancer but are usually not cancer itself, as it usually takes years for cervical cancer to become invasive, and your previous negative paps are reassuring.    If your current tests were more worrisome, your doctor would have arranged for more urgent colposcopy.
