i am experiencing  severe back pain and ankle pain. the following also describe me: ankle swelling and ankle weakness. what should i do?

Heartburn: Heartburn and difficulty swallowing can be related, take Tums or Gaviscon to relieve symptoms and if they persist you 
probably should start  zantac (ranitidine) or Pepcid then see your doctor. I cannot link your ankle swelling with the above ymptoms. This needs to be evaluated. Did you take nsaids to treat the swelling? These can cause heartburn.

Need xray: You should really get a xray to make sure there are no fractures from your injury, which I presume was an inversion ankle sprain. With these sprains, fracture of the styloid process of the 5th metatarsal bone is common.

Here are some ...: If just happening overnight, one has to concern about DVT (deep vein thrombosis) although it's uncommon for bilaterally simultaneous occurrence. So, watch such swelling closely for potential progress, go to urgent care timely, &amp; don't wait until the last minute. For the time being, wear compression + leg elevation will help, but not knowing its underlying causes. Best wish ...

i have a venous us and see a vascular doc in a week for severe bilateral foot/ankle swelling attacks. the leg cramps/pain behind knee. ? how to sleep?

One of the concerns : Is a clot, a bakers cyst is another that comes to mind. A clot is serious if present and needs to be dealt with immediately. The question is did you already have he ultrasound or not? If you didnt go get it done...And do not wait a week. If you did and it was negative, i would call the doctors office anyway explain your ina lot of pain and ask to be seen earlier. 
Perhaps ice would help....

Tough one : This is a difficult one to answer due to the shear number of symptoms, not all of which are necessarily related, and unanswered questions. The best doctor to begin with is a board certified internal medicine physician to get a full work up.

It depends: Swelling can be due fluid retention and can be due to medical reasons, medications, excess dietary sodium intake, and other reasons.  Dealing with those issues can resolve the ankle swelling.

If the swelling is from the ankle joint, it might represent an injury or arthritis.

Standing up: if you are standing up too long this could also impact your ankle and foot joints and cause swelling. Also depending on the type of shoes you wear. If you wear high heeled shoes when working and standing then the ankles swell. So try to elevate you legs as much as possible. If you are very concerned consult a podiatrist  for further evaluation and treatment.
