i have chronic low back pain. the x-ray showed spinal stenosis. i will be having an mri next week. i am unsure if mri shows cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine or if eacharea is ordered a separate mri? i have intermittent neck pain also.

MRI : Mri scan is usually directed to single region where your symptoms are, such as MRI of lumbar spine for low back pain or spinal stenosis.  That said, when people have multiple complaints in neck, thoracic and lumbar spine your doctor may order MRI scans of the cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine to investigate the complaints at the same time.  Single MRI scan is only of one area. Two MRI scans would be needed to look at the cervical and lumbar spine.  These can be done at the same time and you may not even realize it.  Good luck!

have periperal neuropathy & lumbar and cervical stenosis with nerve compression.  have numerous symptoms.  can you identify condition causing by type?

Yes: History and exam, with perhaps an EMG study performed by an expert could divide out the specific contributions of each entity and maybe point to etiology of the peripheral neuropathy.  This is not rocket science, but maybe you might wish an academic center to sort out for you and recommend treatment.

: Yes these symptoms are consistent with your description. You are also very young to have developed such a condition. Has ia cause ever been given? Sometimes a limb length difference or a pelvic rotation can present such a condition. Which is treated by a podiatrist with biomechanics provide custom orthotics to provide better function and less pathology.

Find cause of pain: Chronic lumbar pain can be due to a variety of causes. If a diagnosis can be made that explains the pain, then treatment option becomes obvious.

MRI: Mri of the lumbar spine is an excellent exam for evaluating the cause of pain.  It can show herniated discs, fractured, spinal cord pathology, compressed nerve roots, masses, previous surgical changes, and disease of the surrounding structures.

Physiologic and : Structural changes occur during pregnancy that affect the musculoskeletal system,  your body secretes a hormone, relaxin, that allows for some ligament laxity to allow for expansion of your birth canal at the pelvis level.  As the fetus grows, your center of gravity shifts affecting your posture which places an increased load onto your lower back which can lead to back pain with prolonged standing.

is yoga beneficial for lumbar pain due to l1-5 degenerative disease?

It may be: Be sure you find a good teacher and discuss your issue beforehand. I like anusara yoga because of all the verbal cuing.  Also try osteopathic manipulation or cranial osteopathy for help with alignment and keeping things fluid (aao or cranial academy online).  Keep good nutrition via anti-inflammatory diet (find online).  Acupuncture may also be helpful.
