i have been noticing severe bruising all over my legs.   what should i do?

Doctor needs to see: If a person has new, excessive bruising, she should see the doctor right away. Blood tests can tell whether or not she has a problem with blood not clotting (not clotting means more bleeding under the skin). For example, her platelets might be very low.

Varicose veins: The heart pumps blood, under great pressure, out into the arteries, but the blood must return to the heart in veins, which are thinned walled. There is no pump on the return, vein side, and as we get older, some veins bulge and swell, and even leak fluid into the local skin. These are varicose veins and they may cause swelling or a bulge on the lower leg. Keep your legs up, and see your doctor.

Check spatial: surroundings. First make sure you do not need glasses. Second look at the rooms you are walking in. Are there sharp corners on desks and bed posts that you keep walking into? Is the furniture arranged in an awkward position that predisposes you to running into it? Read about Feng Shui. It might help. Good luck

Pain: Let me reinterate. You child needs to be seen asap to be evaluated for a variety of possibilities such as legg perthes disease, infection or possible tumor.

Blood: Blood travels and spreads around the area of injury. It can go down all the way to the toes and if you've been elevating the leg, it can track upwards as well. Nothing to worry about. It will turn several pretty colors before it's done.

i have a malformation in my leg but they also think i may have compartment syndrome. i have severe pain and briusing. can you still have bruising?

More info: Is the malformation from trauma to the leg? If so, you should be evaluated promptly. Compartment syndrome from trauma to the leg is a surgical emergency.

is it possible to have a severe bone bruise of the tibia cause compartment syndrome in the lower thigh of the same leg.

Compartment syndrome: Is not likely to move up to the thigh from the lower leg.  The fascia of the muscles of the legs and arms is so tight that it doesn't allow for expansion in the crushed muscle so the swelling leads to pain and damage to additional muscle and can result in loss of the limb in extreme cases.  Have it checked in an emergency room...Special equipment to measure increase in pressure in the muscle.

ive got severe itching on my legs which is worse at night.bern waking up in night with bad pains in calves & been rock hard & unexplained bruising?

See your doctor: If it was just nighttime itching, I would think you have restless legs syndrome.  But adding the other symptoms makes me highly suspicious of a vascular problem. Unexplained bruising itself deserves a full work up and may or may not be related. Please see your GP asap.  He will direct you to the right tests and specialists if needed.

missed a large step and sprained my ankle its swollen but not severe. its also bruising and a lot of pai. the pains going up the side of my leg help?

Ankle sprain: Get off of it and use crutches, ice, elevation and ibuprofen. You may want to get a x-ray to make sure it's not fractured.

i hit my lower shin pretty good on stairs. i can hardly put weight or move my leg without severe pain. its very swollen to my ankle but no bruising?

Ice it: If the injury occured within 24 hours otherwise i would recommend hot compresses. Antiinflammatories can be of benefit if not contraindicated. If pain persists after a few days visit the doctor.
