is 875mg amoxacillan a good idea as a precaution in case i have an ear infection? or can i take half the dose? i find that the 875mg is for severe infections?

No: Taking antibiotics without confirming ear infection is not a good idea at all.  No antibiotics is without side effects.  Moreover, if you take inadequate amount of antibiotics, you are taking risk of  leaving  resistant bacteria in your body.

Ear aches: Common causes of ear aches are wax, ext otitis, middle ear infections, serous otitis media, mastoiditis etc. Ear infections are due either to bacterial or fungal, rarely viral ( herpes zoster).

Probably wrong anti: Biotic. Antibiotics are prescribed empirically (what is the most likely organism and what is most likely to kill it). Sometimes we guess wrong, as seems to be in your case, and we have to change the med. see your doc tomorrow.

Otitis externa: The fact that you tell me that his ear swells up makes me think this is an external canal infection, as opposed to a middle ear infection. This is caused by bacteria invading the external ear canal ( like a swimmers ear). He can try putting white vinegar in his ear once to twice daily for prevention of these infections.

48 hrs : at least , for  the antibiotic to act , but in meanwhile csn take ibugesic for pain .

May be related.: The jaw joint is very close to the ear. Pain in the ear may be an ear infection, or it may be a jaw joint problem. Rarely, an ear infection can spread to the jaw joint. So yes, ear pain may be related to the jaw pain you're experiencing.

Inflammation: Inflammation from the ear can spread to that area making it feel like the infection has spread to your jaw.  You should have yourself checked for possible treatment.
