: One possible cause is allergic sinus disease. Discuss rinsing sinuses with saline and a topical steroid nasal spray with your physician. Drink fluids and monitor temperature.

i've had severe pain and swelling in my hands, especially in my left thumb. i get a burning sensation in my wrists while touching. it affects my work and makes me irritable. what should i do?

PCP: This particular problem is not going to be able to be answered on this site.  My recommendation would be to see her pcp and she will probably need lab work and x-ray and examination to make an accurate diagnosis.  This could be anywhere between carpal tunnel syndrome and osteoarthritis.

Carpal tunnel: Your symptoms may suggest a carpal tunnel syndrome which is due to a median nerve compression at the wrist. An exam can usually make the diagnosis. An electromyogram can be helpful as well. See a rheumatologist, orthopedist or hand surgeon.

Exam needed: The most common cause of severe earache is an infection of the ear drum. This is treated with oral antibiotics as well as ear drops to relieve pain. A physician would have to examine the ear with an otoscope in order to visualize the ear drum and make a diagnosis. In the meantime, have your husband apply heat to the ear and take Tylenol.

Need more info: Burning sensation indicates nerve irritation and swelling indicates inflammation.  Need more information to give a more informed answer.

Unlikely: The ovarian cysts and vaginal symptoms are not likely to be related. You should see your doctor or a gynecologist to rule to yeast infection of bacterial vaginosis.
Wish you good health! - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. 
Practice safe sex, if you have sex. 
Get HPV vaccine, if you are under 27 years of age.

See PCP...: 53 y/o says, I have a rash and swelling around the base of my neck, it itches and a burning sensation? Insect bite with/ without a "stinger in-situ" seems likely if these signs are new or sudden. But, having the trained LooK of the Doctor and possibly touching and feeling the rash will most likely tell the Doctor the cause and the treatment to use.  See PCP asap.

Burning sensation: sometimes in ankle sprains the nerves that supply sensation to you feet and toes get stretched and can cause a transient burning sensation. Muscle/ tendon complex can cause burning sensations when they are over stretched or injured. See you local Podiatrist for a complete foot exam.

Abscess?: It is possible you are developing an abscess, which is a pus pocket beneath the skin.  Any redness to the skin, drainage, or fever?  If the burning is deeper inside it may be gastritis, an ulcer or gallbladder disease.  More information would be helpful but consider seeing your doctor if it doesn't resolve after several days.

Your Doctor's assess: What is your doctor's assessment as to the cause? If you pain is getting worse, then an imaging study to find the cause of swelling and pain is in order. Ask your doctor to do further testing simply using pain pills is not a solution....You must find out what is causing it, then treat the cause.
