Yes: The use of Seroquel (quetiapine) for sleep is strictly 'off-label'. This is a side effect many like to use to their benefit for insomnia.  This side effect dissipates in time for most people.  If it is losing its 'ummph' I would advise seeing your doctor for a more appropriate sleeping treatment.

Also, mild degrees of hypothryoidism can make it difficult to lose those last few pound even with diet and exercise. A more problematic (more side effects) medication sometimes used with other psychotropic meds to control appetite is topamax (topiramate).

i am on a new mixture if medication and im kind of concerned with mixing any of them. im on 300mg of welbutrian, 10mg ambian, 400mg seroquel, (quetiapine) and 10mg valium as needed but not exceeding 20mg a day?

MED management : I agree that does seem like a lot of medication.  Sometimes it's better to start one or two, continue for a few weeks and then change further.  Good luck, and make certain to talk with the prescribing doctor

You can ask...: ...the physician who is treating you.  Quetiapine (Seroquel) is a second-generation "atypical" antipsychotic that is approved for the treatment of schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.  It may be especially useful in bipolar depression.  If the medication has been effective and then seems to lose effectiveness, either an increase in dose or a switch in medication may be reasonable.  Talk to your MD.

Geodon (ziprasidone) vs Seroquel: I don't know what issues you had with geodon, (ziprasidone) but there must have been some for your medication to be changed?  Geodon (ziprasidone) may be less likely to cause sedation but more likely to cause insomnia & agitation.  It may also have less frequent sexual dysfunction.  If a person needs more help with sleep, seroquel may be preferable.
