Not painful: Aspirating a seroma is generally done in an outpatient setting, usually not even requiring numbing medicine (since the pain of a needle stick for aspiration is the same as for the numbing medicine, but depends on how big the seroma and location).  In any case, the seroma may require multiple aspirations until it eventually goes away.  Without aspiration, this may take months to resolve.

Seroma: Majority of time six months is enough time for seroma to resolve. At this point it can safely be aspirated if resolution is not satisfactory. How it should be done depends on comfort level of surgeon. It can be done with or without ultrasound. With ultrasound is somewhat safer.

Not much: Walking is not going to help and in fact may make it bigger.  Heat will also not be effective if the seroma is large.  Aspirating a seroma is generally done in an outpatient setting and the seroma may require multiple rounds of aspiration, depending on the rate of buildup, location and symptoms.

SHOULD BE SHRINKING: Seromas and hematomas can develop in the abdominal wall space that the tissue which protrudes through the hernia defect creates.  The serum or blood should slowly regress with time, but should probably be gone within 6 months.  If a persistent collection is troublesome, it may have to be removed.  Speak to your surgeon.  Good luck.

See your surgeon: Post-operatice swelling in the groin after laparoscopic inguinal hernia surgery is common a resolves on its own over several weeks. It is of no consequence & does not matter if it is just normal tissue sweloing or small seroma. Both resolve on their own.

Seroma: Yes seromas  can recur particularly if there is a space between hernia and the skin and seromas can get infected as well. Should see your surgeon.

had successful morgagni-hernia surgery. part of colon was in my right-chest. seroma formed after. now i have chronic nausea, regurgitation, gerd. why?

Accepted Answer

Post surgery: Although you considered the surgery successful, it appears that your symptoms, if they weren't present posoperatively, are related to some degree of diaphragm laxity allowing reflux and regurgitation. I feel that collaboration between the surgeon and a gastroenterologist will be required to figure out the cause of your symptoms and a treatment plan.
