No: There are many things that can cause a tooth to be sensitivie to cold. Some transient meaning they resolve on their own, others that respond to desensitizing toothpaste and still others that respond to a mouth guard to give relief to clenching/grinding.

Adjacent teeth: After root canal therapy is completed successfully on a tooth that tooth will no longer feel hot and cold sensitive.  Have the teeth around that tooth checked.

Cold sensitivity: You should absolutely not have any temperature senitivity following a root canal.
You still could have sensitvity in the surrounding teeth.However none in a root canal treated tooth.

Root canal: If you had a root canal completed, then the nerve inside the root that allows you to feel temperature changes has been removed and it's unlikely the sensitivity to cold is coming from the same tooth. However, the root canal treated tooth can be sensitive to pressure or biting or be sore.

Adjacent tooth ?: Teeth with root canal therapy should not be sensitive to hot and cold.. it could be an adjacent tooth. Have your dentist take a look to determine the cause.

i had my root canal treatment on front tooth last april 7,2015 but not yet put crown.to my surprise,it feels sensitivity to cold now and cant use to bite because it pains.is it normal?what should i do?

No: It is not expected to have cold sensitivity because cold sensitivity is a sign that the tooth is still alive, and after a root canal a tooth should not have any nerve left and thus will be considered dead. It is possible that the cold sensitivity you are feeling is from one of the teeth next to it or that the root canal was not finished, I recommend going back to your dentist to check it out.

Some possibilities: First, if the rct was completed and the canals were filled properly, there cannot be any cold or hot sensitivity with that tooth. One can still have throbbing if the tissues around the root of the tooth (periodontal ligament) are inflamed. 2d x-rays cannot show everything.  A 3d (cbct) scan can possibly show another canal or pathology present. Sometimes these issues resolve on their own with time.

i had a root canal thursday ,and four days after i still have pain when chewing or taping on my tooth ;also a sensitivity to cold but not hot .the big problem is that my neck on that side hurts really bad ,strangling sensation.idea of what can be?

More info needed...: Maxillary or mandibular tooth? Infection or no infection? Injections? Your best bet is a followup visit with your treating dentist for a re-evaluation of that tooth.

Check: Sometimes a tooth will become cold-sensitive when it is hitting too hard in your bite.   Have your dds check the way you bite.  Does the involved tooth seem like it is too high?
