what causes sensitive skin.

when i've had a bad flu in the past, it's been normal for my skin to be highly sensitive.  touching my healthy arm skin is irritating.

now i have this when i'm healthy.  there's no rash of any kind.  simply irritation?

Allodynia: This heightened sensitivity of the skin to touch can be due to a type of neuropathy of small skin nerve fibers. Another theory is that it's caused by lack of healthy sleep.  I don't think it's a well understood condition. I'm unsure of whether a neurologist could give you better information about this condition.

my daughter is 12 and her skin has been really weird lately. very sensitive skin, easily bruised , arm pits swollen, looks pale, and tired  a lot.

Bruising: Easy bruising can occur when the blood vessels are weakened by diseases (such as scurvy), medications (such as aspirin, Prednisone and prednisolone), and aging. Easy bruising can also occur because of absent or deficient blood-clotting elements. Take your daughter to the doctor as soon as possible.

History neck injury?: Sounds as if you may have a compressed nerve in your neck that may be causing these symptoms.  Do have have history of a neck injury, car accident?  Any weakness in your left hand or left arm  A physician should be able to give you advice on possible workup, treatment including exercises and medicines.  Happy healing!

i woke up today with sore, sensitive skin up and down my left forearm.  i also have painful lymph nodes under my arm and breast.  what could this be?

LNs: Time to get an exam. Sensitive skin from elbow down forearm to 5th finger is often pressure on the ulnar nerve at elbow. But with axillary lymph nodes, time for an exam if they are enlarged, tender, etc.

Dysesthesia: This uncomfortable sensation on light touch represents a heightened sensitivity or irritability of superficial nerves in the skin of uncertain etiology. It is usually only a localized patch which often resolves without any treatment. A neurologist is best qualified to evaluate you if symptoms persist.

Pain in neck: Pain or stiffness in neck? Maybe pressure on nerve in neck at cervical level 5 to 6. Maybe pressure in shoulder muscles. Maybe some pressure on your radial nerve. See a neurologist.

keratosis pilaris, 
lipomas, 
neurofibromas.

i have a dark mark on my right upper arm, about 2cm by 2 cm wide and at times is its itchy.  
i'm worried it could be a skin condition or worse?

Skin lesion: I would recommend having your doctor look at the skin lesion to see if further testing or biopsy is needed. It is difficult to address your fear of a skin cancer or another disease causing the lesion without seeing you in person.

i have been experiencing pain in my right hip and right upper arm. arm when raised above my head, hip when laying on it, sitting and sometimes walking what type of dr. should i see for this?
