Is it infected?: Sebacious cysts unless infected , are not treated with antibiotics. If not infected  trt. Is excision of the cyst .If infected we treat with antibiotics and when the infection is controlled well , the cyst wall can be separated from the overlying skin surg.Is ok. Antibiotic choice is based on allergies. Penicillin gp, is good .Others like clindamycin, doxy are okay, but they needto be given by ur dr.

You probably can't: Some women are prone to develop multiple cysts here, just as some men are prone to get dozens of these on the scrotum. It's probably genetic but the gene hasn't been found. They are a nuisance but not dangerous. Ignore them or have them removed -- your choice. I'm sorry for this inconvenience. Best wishes. Curious to know if any other physicians here know ways to manage this condition.

Not exactly...: Antibiotics (such as doxycycline) can help to treat / prevent worsening infection of an affected sebaceous cyst.  However, it does not get to the root of the problem, which is that there is a cyst underneath your skin. To fix the problem permanently, your surgeon will need to completely excise the cyst (preferably at a time when it is not infected).
