Very: All birth control pills are very effective with less than 1% failure rate if used properly. Seasonale is designed to reduce menstrual periods to four episodes per year. There is, however, a 20% chance of irregular bleeding and spotting for the first few months which may not resolve in some women. If spotting occurs, birth control may not be as effective.

ive took seasonale for nine days and feel horrible physically and mentally.im going to discontinue.will my hormones be out of whack when i dont take t?

Possible bleeding: When you begin taking a birth control pill and then stop your body may "think" that it is time to have your period.  It may take a cycle to begin to have your period at its usual time. But you should not feel ill in general after this. If you do need birth control, however, you should consider trying again as you might have not felt comfortable for another reason

Yes: You can take any birth control pill to stop your period. Seasonal tablets when taken daily will help avoid a period in most instances. Good Luck!

i've had unsafe sex 3 times, and i'm discharging pinkish/brown with no odor. i'm on seasonale birthcontrol,  and i'm on month 2. what could this be?

Common on Seasonale: Seasonale birth control provides continuous active hormonal contraception for three months straight, instead of monthly placebo pills like most other birth control pills.  While Seasonale unburdens  most women of an unnecessary monthly period, the trade off is more break through bleeding (BTB) or spotting (pinkish / brown) discharge.  Since ur having unprotected sex, u are also at risk for STI.

sprintec vs seasonale. i was taking sprintec continuously. on bc for estrogen replacement. which one is a higher dose. switched due to constant flow.

BCP's: Both have a "low" dose of hormones, but taking them continuously can cause breakthrough bleeding . The most common cause is not taking the "active" pills within the same hour as the previous day. Staying punctual will usually overcome your symptoms. Stop the pills, wait five days, and resume: some bleeding may last beyond the five days, but will stop if you are regular in timing.

Yes: The Progesterone in seasonale is probably the problem.  Other ocps can be prescribed, to take the active pills only, every 3 weeks.    One of the best for pms symptoms would be yasmin/safyral.

No: Seasonale (http://www.drugs.com/seasonale.html) is a hormonal birth control pill that is intended to be taken in such a way as to lead to menses once a quarter, rather than monthly. Depending upon how long you've been taking this medication, having a period 4x/mo is not normal. Go see your prescribing physician for an evaluation.

i am a 27 y/o female. in the luteal phase my plasma estradiol level is 18 pg/ml, is this abnormal? when tested i was on seasonale 0.15-0.03 mg

i switched from seasonale to the patch and i'm on week 4 where i'm supposed to get my period and i haven't yet could it be from switching birthcontrol?

Could be: Sometimes people do not have periods on birth control. You can check a pregnancy test to make sure.

my birth control seasonale says to start on a sunday after my period starts.i haven't had a period yet so i was wondering if i could start it now?

Check a test. : If you are just starting BCPs, we like to start with your period so we know you're not pregnant. You should talk with your prescribing MD If you don't start and the pregnancy test is negative.
