BCP's: Both have a "low" dose of hormones, but taking them continuously can cause breakthrough bleeding . The most common cause is not taking the "active" pills within the same hour as the previous day. Staying punctual will usually overcome your symptoms. Stop the pills, wait five days, and resume: some bleeding may last beyond the five days, but will stop if you are regular in timing.
